About Us

We are small correspondence chess club providing games and team competitions for players of all standard. The Social Correspondence Chess Association was established in 1940 to provide quality Postal Chess to players of all standards. It now also provides Web server and email Chess. All of which is collectively called Correspondence Chess. Within the Social CCA you will find like-minded friends who wish to enjoy the game of correspondence chess.

We are founding members of the British Postal Chess Federation (now known as the English Federation for Correspondence Chess) and founder members of the Welsh Correspondence Chess Federation.

Members of the Social CCA may also play ICCF tournaments and represent their National Federation in a variety of International Tournaments. As a member of Social CCA, you have access to a top-class online chess-server site through SchemingMind.com where you may play Social CCA tournaments and compete in standard and variant forms of chess with other players.

The Social CCA publishes its own quarterly magazine called “Checkmate” which has an excellent and long history of providing news, games and comment to our members. Each issue packs a punch with tournament and team results, games, ratings, articles, news, reader’s letters, and other useful information. Checkmate is free to members of SCCA.

The annual membership fee includes free entry to all Social CCA individual and team tournaments.
